Hopping

Hopping

I like to make macro pictures that are not sterile, but more pleasing to the eye.
This one was taken again with my Sigma macro lens (105mm 2.8) on my Nikon DSLR.

No post-processing at all on this one. Click to enlarge for more details.

I took this series on our vacation to Croatia this summer.
To be honest, this is one of those cases where you cannot entirely “forget the camera”, as you need one which offers decent continuous shooting capabilities.

The slideshow above shows the entire series of 11 pictures, below you find a selection of it – click to enlarge.

As you can imagine I will show you some impressions from Croatia in the coming weeks/months, so stay tuned.

Thanks a lot to my good pal Chris for performing this nice header and giving me permission to show it here.

Cologne Triangle

DSC-RX00672_3_4_final-1_web

Finally time for an HDR capture.
I have been on a short trip to Cologne and while on the first day the weather was atrocious, I was lucky on the second one. Sun with nice clouds, Cologne abounds in interesting subjects anyway.
The building here is called the Triangle. It has a modern, but very nice architecture (which I might show you soon in the next weeks).
I am going to post a black and white version of this one on my flickr page this week. You can check out my photo stream there for alternative shots I post once in a while.

Another thing: I have finally rebuilt my portfolio page!
You can check it out here. (<- Clicky!)

Hope you like it…

Like a dew-drop on the morning grass

Like a dew-drop on the morning grass

Your body is like a dew-drop on the morning grass, your life is as brief as a flash of lightning. Momentary and vain, it is lost in a moment.

– Dogen Zenji

Some other pictures from last week’s brief excursion.
The droplets you see here were actually tiny – you can get a sense of their size when you compare them to the grass blades.

Another thing:
My portfolio site is currently under reconstruction, so the link leads to nowhere at the moment. I plan to finish it either this week or next. I will keep you posted via Twitter or the Facebook page (see links at right) or ultimately on this blog.

To close with another Dogen quote and another picture (click to enlarge):

To what shall I liken the world?
Moonlight, reflected
In dewdrops,
Shaken from a crane’s bill.

In The Garden

In The Garden

A few days ago I felt like taking a few macro shots, so I put on my Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 macro prime lens on one of my Nikon DSLRs and just went outside.
That was a good decision as I managed to get some decent pictures (click to enlarge; others to follow in the next weeks).
I really love this lens. In combination with a Nikon body you get an incredible sharpness (sometimes it can be brutal), no post processing required whatsoever in this regard.
When I use it for portraits (headshots) I really have to soften everything (you know what I mean).

In The Garden

BTW: Thanks to all new followers on various Social Media and of course thanks to all those who are still there after so many years.

Cheers,

Timo
